Another Wet Spring

Who thought we would have yet another wet spring like this.  Third one in a row.  Is it always going to be this way now Lord?  Such a tough thing to accept.  What is it you want to teach me thru this. Well I will be thankful for what I do have.  The grass is a beautiful green,  the perennials are looking so lush.  I have been able to plant my garden and my vegetables have all come up.  Yes there is a few cut worms now but have mostly gone for the peas.  So I seeded some more in the empty spots There is alot of weeds coming up from the manure we put in.  Will maybe have to treat the cutworms to their chemical dessert.  Have started weeding the garden inspite of the very wet conditions.  Well Lord you have allowed us to plant The harvest is yours.  We have seeded You will reap.  We got the tomatoes in as well as all our other flower plants in the ground. I seeded second weekend in May alot earlier then last year.  We did not get any frosts.  Now we are waiting for nice weather.  Lord we need the sun but what is your plan? 
Well I find out I will not be able to work as hard as I am tending to want to do  this summer.  I have developed a prolapse that will require a surgical repair come fall.  Im glad I get Dr. Broditsky as my surgeon and gynocologist.  He says Im in his mature women department now. He sure is a nice doctor. 
Good bye Hecla I wont be coming back this summer.  And who knows how long it will be. In a way Im sorry about that but then I dont want to hurt myself even more by working to hard. Then it will only get worse. So lord Im giving this all to you.

Spring is Here

April was amazing.  Many times warm as summer but without the misquitos. I seeded my "salad bar" on the north side of the house by the apple trees actually Randall and Christy did.  By May 1st the lettuce has come up.  The perennial garden is stating to look green and fresh with this and that coming out  and strutting their first leaves and some several inches high. Like the leopards bane, gloe flower the monkshood some delphinums daylilies veronica, phlox  baby tears  yarrow tulips and daffodils and crocuses.  Every thing is so much earlier.  Even the roses are sending out t heir new shoots.  The himalayan impatiens are poppy up every where.  Have to definately weed those out. Some lilies are coming up already. All in April.  Wow..  The greenhouse is doing amazing but now we need the customers.  Tho Randall says I have sold around 700$ already.  Thanks friends.
Roger has rotivated our garden so its ready to be planted.  Then we got into a season of rain and much cooler temperatures.  Like an 1inch of rain.  Well the sun will shine again.  And customers will come again.  Be patient and trust.
Sold alot of trees again to Hecla and Garry and Olga's son. As well as Nikki.  We also bought more cherry trees and a cranberry bush and rose bushes that I made a second row on the other side of the stone path on the south side of the house. I think Ill like that.
Tho I really dont know what I want to plant where but I sometimes plan already.  We are  using the littlegreenhouse again tho we had not planned to at first.  We just need more space.  Or I have to order less.  The baskets that Bonnie made are starting to look really good. Filling out nicely.   We did our first spray for aphids May1 in the evening.  Have found a few already.  Lord I sure hope the Tristar will work.

Is 2010 going to be miraculous?

As I look at all that Ive invested in for this season I wonder if God is wanting me to think big and that He will bring in a wonderful prolific harvest?  I can only lean and trust that He will.  Nothing is too big for him.
Well Lord there are new potentials again.  Stephane wants lots of herbs.  Hope they will be nice for harvest as he needs them. I should make a thick patch of them to use a little less room in the garden. Fred wants lots of red trailing petunias.  He wants aleast 4 big baskets and flowers for window boxes and whiskey barrels.  All in red and white. I should really take note of what I all have in red and white.
Then there will be a whole lot going to Hecla again. Lord maybe there will be more? I pray for a nice warm sunny summer.  But you have the best plan in store for us.

Wee Willies

Wee Willies are a type of flower about 3-4 inches in circumference in bright shades of red pink and white and burgundy. They have amazing detail in each petal which makes them so unique.  They are a perennial/biennial type of flower. Truly a work of God's creativity.

Winter is not that bad this year

Temperatures are rather nice out for winter that is.  I look back and say its been a nice winter.  A beautiful November cutting it short by a month and then a few days of really cold( good for those bush wackers) and January is behind us February is a short month and then comes March.  A time for me to really get serious about seeding petunias and all the other flowers and stuff I want to start growing.  Then comes the end of March and I will march into my greenhouse with my boxes of baby plants and start my new growing season.  Woweeeee. Cant wait.
Meanwhile I hope to work a few more days at Hecla to gain abit more moolah to pay for all these goodies I am planning for this year.

January is almost gone

Janury is almost gone and February is coming in with cold weather by the sounds of it.  My winter has been good for the most part . I have officailly started some seeds of perennials that need lots of time.  Seed orders are coming in every few days now.  I have decided  what I am going to do as far as my new greenhouse year.  I have ordered enough seeds and bulbs and plants for this year I believe.  Enogh is enough Wilma.  I have some new plans for my own yard.  '
I want to go thru my perennial bed and cut out a patch for cutflower anuals.  My tall annuals and bulbs are going at the edge of my vegetable garden this year.  So if anybody wants some perennials from my garden come along and choose come  May or June once they start coming up.
My dahlias tall cosmos and lavatera, Himalayan Impatiens and Malva I want to put at the edge of the garden.  I might put in a patch of marigolds imn my garden as well to deter bugs.  Flowers in my garden may bring in more bees to pollinate vegetables.
I want to try seeding my cabbage cauliflower and broccolli in the garden too.  I think Ill make a patch of it instead of a row.
On the north side of my house I think I will seed my herbs and lettuce so its closer to the house when I need it.
Then around my pond I will use pots instead of planting in the ground Seems to work better there. I will use pots on my stumps  in the backyard as well with begonias and shade plants.  I need to decide on the patch I cultivated.  Impatiens and coleus and shade annuals till I get that patch totally rid of grass.
On the north side it will be impatiens and cocktail begonias . 
Up front it will be New guinea Impatiens among my roses again.  They were so beautiful there last year.
I will use lots of petunias in my tubs here and there around the yard. I think I will plant my cannas against the house by the dining room and plant marigolds in front now instead of impatiens there.
In the bed by the hydro pole I will put daisy and geraniums with allysum and verbena along the edge.
The bed by the road I will put zinnias, celosia, and I wiill decide on the border plant there maybe matricaria.
I might put a few millets in the very centre.
Along the south border it will be phlox, snapdragon, petunias.
I need to move my lythrum and then I will put a bed of pansy and asters in there.
